Texas Hold'em: Sucky Hands

Question
Why do other people always seem to make straights and flushes when I make two pair or trips?

Answer
Because online hold em is rigged! Seriously, this has to do with the fact that a) Texas hold em is a 7 card game, which means big hands—while not totally commonplace—are far from rare, and b) in online poker you typically only see your opponent's hand when he has put in the last bet, and he has you beaten. In other words, you don't see the thousands of hands where he calls your river bet with a small pair, since the software folds his hand for him. Thus, you only see your opponents hand when you're beaten; you don't see it when you beat him.

Lastly, if you make two pair it's more likely that someone else made a straight, especially if you're playing reasonable starting hands. A board of JT965 is more likely to produce a two pair hand (or a straight) then a AQ942 board. So there is some correlation between making two pair and having an opponent make a straight.
