Jacks or Better Strategy Card

How to Use This Strategy Card
Once you get the hang of this strategy card, you'll find that it is very easy to use. Note that there are two columns. The column to the right, "Hands", lists the possible types of card combinations you may be dealt. The column to the left, "Priority", ranks these possible card combination in order of importance. To use the strategy card, determine if the initial hand you are dealt contains any of the combinations of cards under the "Hands" column of the card. If so, choose to keep the cards that compose that combination of cards and re-draw the rest of the cards. If not, re-draw all five cards. Somtimes you will be dealt a hand that contains more than one of possible card combinations in the the "Hands" column. In this case, choose to keep the cards that compose the hand that ranks the highest in the priority column, and re-draw the rest.

Let's look at an example. Pretend you are dealt the following hand:

A K Q Q 8

Which cards should you keep and which cards should you re-draw?

Answer: In this situation you have been dealt the following card combinations from the "Hands" column: "One pair; Jacks or higher", "3 to a royal flush", "2 suited cards, Jack or higher", "3 to a straight flush", "2 unsuited cards, Jack or higher", and "One card, Jack or higher". So, of those hands, "One pair, Jacks or higher" has a higher priority ranking than any of the other hands. You would keep the Q Q and re-draw the rest. In practice, you won't actually need to list all the card combinations you have been dealt. Just run down from the top of the list until you find the first "hand" that applies. Try it a few times and you'll soon get the hang of it.
