The Rules of Carribean Stud
Caribbean stud is a fast paced game that's simple to play. At the beginning of the deal every player is required to make a forced bet, called the 'ante'. The player is dealt five cards, all face down (like a poker hand) and the dealer is dealt five cards as well, only one of the cards is face up. After the deal the player has two options: either to fold, and forfeit the ante, or to raise. If the player chooses to raise he puts twice his ante bet in the raise box. Once the player has either raised or folded the dealer exposes their hand. If the dealer's hand is ace-queen or lower the dealer doesn't qualify, at which point the raise bet is returned and the ante bet is paid off at even money. If the dealer has ace-king or better than the dealer does qualify-at which point the player's hand must beat the dealer's hand in order for it to be a winner. If the player's hand is higher he is paid according to the following schedule:
Royal flush: 100-1
Straight flush: 50-1
Four of a kind- 20-1
Full house: 7-1
Flush: 5-1
Straight: 4-1
Three of a kind: 3-1
Two pair: 2-1
One pair: 1-1
Ace/King: 1-1
Optimal Online Carribean Stud Strategy The strategy for Caribbean Stud is simple.
Always raise with a pair or better
Always fold on anything less than AK
Raise with AK if you hold AKJ83 or better.
In actuality the optimal play of AK is incredibly complicated, but it's not worth going into since even perfect play of AK only cuts down the house edge by about a tenth of a percent.
