Craps tables have the most fun in casinos, usually. There are many scenes in movies and TV shows where craps tables are surrounded by loads of people cheering and playing. Playing craps is surely going to be fun and you only need to learn a couple of things to understand this seemingly intimidating game.

Here is how to play craps like a pro.

The Pass Line Bets

When playing craps, the first thing you should pay attention to is the pass line bet. You can bet on pass or don’t pass, and this is before the come out roll. The come out roll is the first roll of a certain shooter. You can bet that the shooter is going to pass or not pass. This means that once the come out roll is over, if the shooter gets a 7 or 11, you get even money. If they roll a 12, 3 or 2, you lose. This is if you bet on pass.

If you bet on don’t pass, 2, 3 and 12 net you even money and 7 and 11 lose you money. If they roll any other number, you get box points and can win your bet if they roll the same number again until they hit a seven. The same goes for the pass bet.

Come and Don’t Come Bets

These are exactly like the pass line bets except they can only take place after the shooter’s come out roll. You can only bet on come and don’t come after the shooter has already made their first roll. They work exactly the same like a pass and don’t pass bet, where you wait until the shooter sevens out, hoping that they hit your point number.

The Place Bet

This bet is great because you can bet that the shooter will hit any number of the following, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. The only thing that you need to worry about is if they hit a seven before hitting your number, in which case you lose the money. There are two outcomes of this bet, hitting your number and hitting a 7. The first one wins you money, the second one loses you money.

The Buy Bet

This bet is the same as a place bet except you have to pay tax for the bet. Why? Because it has no house advantage. If you win, you have to pay 5% tax to the casino, which is called vigorish or shortly vig.

With these tips and tricks, especially after learning the rules of craps, you should be able to play like a professional. Stick to the simple bets and gamble responsibly.
